dyeing and drying

Jaipur has a thriving textile industry, and Matt and I visited some of the larger factories located south of the city near the airport. The factory pictured here was primarily used for dyeing, washing, and drying fabrics destined to be bed sheets, tablecloths, or saris. The acid/bleach baths (below) produced some pungent odors that didn't appear to irritate the gloveless washers. Even more impressive was the glistening rainbow of toxins discharged by the factory into the nearby fields.
